Hut 8 runs two data centres in Vancouver, BC: VAN1 Vancouver Vault and VAN2. Both offer carrier-neutral colocation on the 100G national backbone that links all five Hut 8 Canada data centres, with in-network failover to KEL1 Kelowna, about 270 km away.

  1. VAN1 Vancouver Vault

VAN1 is in downtown Vancouver. It was originally built for the Bank of Canada, with 28-inch steel-reinforced walls. VAN1 is a Tier I site with 1 MW designed and 48U cabinets. One 600 kW generator gives more than 48 hours of runtime. Cooling is by chillers and in-row units, N+1.

  2. VAN2 Vancouver

VAN2 is a Tier I site with 1 MW designed and 48U cabinets. Power is A + B with 2N UPS, backed by 2 generators, 435 kW, with more than 24 hours of runtime. Cooling is by CRAC units, N+1.

A second site in Kelowna, about 270 km away

Pair a Vancouver deployment with KEL1 Kelowna for Vancouver–Kelowna failover on Hut 8's own network. The two cities are about 270 km apart, linked by the 100G national backbone.

Connectivity

Both Vancouver sites are carrier-neutral, with 100G ports, dark fibre, cross-connects and diverse fibre entrances.

Security and compliance

Every Hut 8 Canada site is SOC 2 Type II certified and supports PIPEDA data residency, with equipment hosted in Canadian facilities. Access is by card and biometric controls, with 24/7 NOC-monitored CCTV. Sites carry a 99.99% uptime SLA (53 minutes of downtime a year at most) with 24/7 NOC monitoring. Sites are NIST assessed, case by case.

Colocation options and support

Choose a half rack, full rack or private cage, all with A + B power. Remote hands or 24/7 smart hands are available, with Remote Hands and Eyes billed hourly, plus on-site equipment storage.

Need more density?

For GPU clusters, KEL1 Kelowna has 2.5 MW available now (as at Q3 2026) and supports up to 135 kW per rack in 50U cabinets. Read the GPU colocation buyer's guide.
